The Ricegrowers' Association (RGA) inducted three Honorary Councillors on Wednesday evening at the Rice Industry Awards Gala Dinner, the flagship event at 2024 Rice Connect in Moama.

President of the RGA, Peter Herrmann, said the RGA Honorary Councillor Award recognises outstanding contributions within the Australian rice industry. The recipients are three dedicated members of the SunRice Grower Services team, Eleanor Fondacaro, Melissa Lyons & Lisa O'Callaghan.

"This year's award was initiated from the RGA Mirrool Branch by President Darrell Fiddler, which was unanimously supported by all other Branches when brought to our Central Executive for consideration.

"The 2024 award was driven by members who recognised the contribution made by a team of people who provide excellent service to growers, SunRice and the industry. In the words of the growers who nominated the recipients, 'Nothing is too hard for them. They go out of their way to assist and support us and help us navigate the challenges we face when dealing with industry matters.'

"The trio received a standing ovation when their names were announced. They have worked for SunRice Group for a collective 102 years. It's incredible to think of all the growers they have assisted over the years.

"It was heartfelt to see the recipient's response for being recognised for their dedication to the Australian rice industry."
