The RGA welcomes a new president

The Central Executive of the Ricegrowers' Association of Australia (RGA) are the elected representatives of approximately 1,000 rice growers, and elected Rob Massina as their new president yesterday.  Rob replaces Jeremy Morton who stood down after being elected to the board of SunRice as a Grower Director.

Rob was formerly the Senior Vice President of the RGA and President of the Berriquin RGA Branch. Prior to returning home 6 years ago, Rob was an Agribusiness Executive across Australia and New Zealand. Home for Rob is between Finley and Jerilderie, where he jointly operates irrigation properties with his wife Ainsley, focusing on rice, lamb, wool and grain production. Rob has recently completed the RGA Established Leaders Course and participated in the SunRice Grower Reference Group.

The Executive Director; Graeme Kruger, and staff of the RGA are looking forward to working with Rob to represent the interests of ricegrowers and continue the quest for a fair and reasonable Murray Darling Basin Plan. One that does not result in additional negative social, economic or environmental impacts for our irrigators, communities and industries.

I want to see our rice industry continue to proposer well into the future. There are very few agricultural industries that can boast the complete supply chain and marketing strategies achieved by the Australian rice industry.” – Rob Massina
