We are extending the scholarship application period by a week, so if you are eligible and have oniy just heard about this great opportunity - apply now!

Ricegrowers' sons and daughters, grandsons and grandaughters are encouraged to take advantage of this generous $10,000 and $3,000 sponsorship from SunRice and RRAPL.

So far we have received a number of excellent entries and will be contacting the applicants to arrange interviews in the coming weeks.

Applications close on Friday 8th February 2019.
Successful applicants will be advised and interviews conducted in the week ending 15 February 2019.
The award winners will be announced Wednesday 20 February 2019


The Greg Graham Memorial Scholarship is valued at $10,000 to assist with the costs of Tertiary education. Greg Graham was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the NSW Irrigators’ Council. He was president of the RGA until 1983 and had served as Secretary of the Deniliquin Branch of the RGA, Greg was also Chairman of the Southern Riverina Irrigation Districts Council, a Councillor for the Shire of Murray and a Member of the Murray Region Development Board. Greg had a great admiration and confidence in the future of young people.

The Peter Connor Book Award provides $3,000 to assist with the cost of books and course materials. Peter Connor was a leading rice grower in the Coleambally district and before his death in 1984, had served as Vice President of the Coleambally Branch and delegate to the RGA’s Central Executive between 1975 and 1982. Peter was also a Director of the Ricegrowers’ Cooperative Mills Ltd.

Eligibility Criteria for RGA's Tertiary Scholarships:

  • Applicants must be the children or grandchildren of current financial members of the RGA; and/or the child grandchild of a rice grower – a rice grower is defined as someone who has delivered a minimum of 200 tonne
    over a 2 year period (If not sure please ring the RGA Office on 02 6953 0433).
  • Applicants must be in their second or successive year of studying an agricultural focused and/or industry related course at an Australian tertiary institution.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the rice industry
