Rice Industry Leadership Program participants selected

The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) has selected the participants for the first program in their Rice Industry Leadership Program 2018 –2020 – the “Foundations of Leadership Course.” The RGA believes that developing strong and effective industry leaders is essential to ensuring the industry continues it’s economic, environmental and innovation success.

The Rice Industry Leadership Program is supported by the Federal Government’s $5 million Leadership in Agricultural Industries Fund and by the five key organisations servicing the rice industry: The RGA, Rice Extension, AgriFutures Australia, SunRice and The Rice Marketing Board for the State of NSW (RMB).

The interest was extremely high with 19 successful applicants gaining a place in the eight day residential program, Foundations of Leadership Course, commencing next Monday the 28th of May.

This eight day program will be run over two sessions which has been developed in conjunction with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation. The program targets rice growers and industry representatives who have demonstrated an interest in pursuing leadership opportunities or a commitment to the broader rice industry.

RGA Rice Industry Leadership Coordinator, Ainsley Massina said, “It has been very encouraging to see the interest and enthusiasm for the program from local growers and industry representatives.”

“We have previously run this program and received fantastic feedback from participants. This time we have reviewed the content and are hoping to deliver a more tailored program to meet the industry and community’s needs.”

The first week will be conducted in Deniliquin, this week will include an Industry Rice Mill tour and a panel discussion with Key Leaders from a diverse background, the second week will commence on 3rd of July in Leeton.
